Childish and insulting comments are not necessary; man you do not know me from Adam…no need to go there, I was simply pointing out that my request for help would not be noticed since you asked a different, but related question. My last question was as stated; related to my problem with the bike jumping what should I look at next if the clutch assembly appears to be OK.

Well as mentioned in the earlier post, disassembled the clutch and everything looked good, tight with no signs of wear anywhere, disks, metals, cage, hub bolt tight, pressure plate bolts tight, found nothing.....reassembled, readjusted the clutch as outlined, bike still jumps when going from N to 1st.

Probably something I'll have to live with unless someone has other suggestions.

Thanks

Sorry Rasdes, I'm no clutch expert, but screwing in the pushrod too much has to be compensating for something wrong in that clutch pack. *I'm having a hard time following Sven, I know he means well, but he's probably onto it since it sounds like you are adjusting it correctly. *That would bug the shit out of me, so I would either try to take it to someone, or look at replacing your clutch pack or plates. I'm sure you know Bandit makes a great replacement. *I know you said they all look ok, and not warped, but you need to try something. *Hopefully someone on here can point you in the right direction.

My 08 had been doing this as well. I have the Bandit clutch set up. Finally to get a good adjustment I have the pushrod backed off maybe a bit more than a 1/8 of a turn. Noticed when tightening down the nut on the push rod you acctullay pull the rod slightly further away from the bearing due to slight tollerences in the nut and rod threads also I have found that if you don't hold the rod very stable you can turn it when tightening the nut. After that I did the standard adjustment on the cable. Took me several times to get it right.
However when "cold" the bike still want's to jump a little when I put it in 1st. But it does not pull forward and I can push it backwards while running in gear with the clutch pulled in. When the bike is at full operating temp (primary cover warm/hot to the touch) It slips in easy and back out to neutral with just a blip of the throttle.

Might try getting the bike up to full temps and working from there. And or just back it off a 1/8 turn. Set up the cable, start in 1st gear if you can and go out and see if it slips under load in 3rd or 4th gear. You're probabley close to where you need to be and unless something is wrong with a part you may just have to tweak it. I rode for several days with the cover off of the clutch rod/nut just so I could pull into the shop mess with it and go out again. And if you get mad at it step away (i had to) take break, beer or what ever and go back at it.

It is hard to say especially if you have adjusted the clutch according to what we all suggested. However, one last try here. How high is your dog idling, more that two lights which is about 1000 RPMs. Less than that the tachometer will flash, but to much could make her jump. I have the auto clutch so if my jumped I just true the idle down.

Thanks guys......Carlos the idle is actually low, lights flash until the bike warms up then all is normal. What I do not understand, when I had the primary cover off I could see the push rod moving the pressure plate out about 1/4 ", definitely releasing any pressure between the plates. My final clutch adjustment included turning the rod in with my right hand while feeling and turning the throw out bearing with my left, turned it in until I felt slight resistance when turning the bearing. Double checked to see the pressure plate move out 1/4 in...there is NO pressure between the plates so why the jump...I scratch my head. V- I will do as suggested but I know the current adjustment is good. Thanks again guys....

Thanks to all , really - really appreciate your time and input. Before I rip into the primary side, pls tell me exactly what gaskets / O Rings / Seals I will need to inspect the clutch and where to buy them. I assume, the primary cover gasket, the primary side cover O ring or gasket, 32 oz of primary oil, if I order from on line what model V twin am I looking for or is there someone I can call that's familiar w/Big Dogs that knows what I need. Thanks again to all that replied...appreciate your time!!!!
I am by no means a expert but had a similar issue with my bike awhile back.
1st make sure the adjustment on the throttle cable is right may want to check your lever for pull.

How do the pulley teeth look any missing or worn? "on the transmission" flywheel

2nd I ended up installing a new primo clutch pack and had to send the tranny into baker to repair if everything on the clutch is good you may want to start looking a the transmission. I did not do the work on the transmission so not sure what exactly was done just something u may want to troubleshoot.

I didn't think about this until the other day. I went thru 2 Baker carriers. Either the bearing had runout or the aluminum carrier warped/bent. Baker replaced bent shift forks and the shift rod. First impression is a bent mainshaft but that was not the case. Replaced with a Bandit set up and all is good. With the shaft being straight and the basket having a slight wobble it will cause the plates to drag. A lot of folks have upgraded to the the Bandit as it is stronger than the Baker set up. Wish this had been my first mod instead of a cam and carb:rant:

I know you have had it apart once and if like me don't want to pull it down again but if you can't find anything else as far as adjustment go you may want to look at this.

And thanks To DoubleD for the vid.
