Cluster Cycle

Did a quick search... didn't come across anything though.

When I first got my dog, I thought there was an issue with the speedo not registering. Turns out I just wasn't giving it time to go through the cycle after turning the key before pushing any buttons. Was told by my dealer that doing so will cause it to not really complete it's cycle and would give the problem that it did.

So now... I'm sure to watch the needle cycle completly before doign anything. Is this "normal"?

Lately I've noticed that if it doesn't start on the first shot (i.e. it fires up for a second or so then quits) so when I fire it up the second time... I get the same problem before where the speedo won't register. I have to kill it, turn it on and let the needle cycle and fire it up again and it registers as it should.

This a problem?

Yes, you have to let the speedo cycle before you start or the speedo won't work. On starting, i twist the throttle 2 to 3 times before starting. Sometimes it idles a bit slow and the idiot lights go crazy on the tach so i bring the rpm up a bit and lock the throttle on with the cruise mate until the engine warms up. The symptons you are showing only happens to me in the spring after being parked all winter. After a couple of startups it is good for the rest of the season.

Yea, I usually twist the throttle twice before I start it up. If it's cold out, I'll pull the choke up a hair and wait for it to get a good start and lower it again. The bike is in the shop now for pipes and a few other things... one of which is the cruise mate.
