my BuD was hauling ass on freeway…. bike went into neutral, clutch went limp, thought clutch cable broke, but it is good…..pulled off primary and clutch assembly…check good. Thinking it is the tranny, but has anybody have this problem already and what did you ended up doing? this is on an 2006 k-9.

Did your friend adjust the clutch before he went for a ride? It's possible that the ball and ramp assy was not seated correctly and then it fell into place while riding it and now it has too much free play in the cable. Have you tried adjusting it again? Give more details on what it's doing or not doing. No need to call Baker.

let andrew take care of that tranny for you if thats what it comes to. sounds kind of like a broken main shaft. put it on a lift, put it in first gear if you can and then try to spin the rear wheel. if it spins easily, its a broken main shaft i think.

Yep as many times said before Andrew is top notch A+ in my book.

Sounds like a main shaft....was a problem in 06's......but check the other stuff first.

What Andrew said. I greased my ball and ramp and lubed my cable one time, cable went slack on the road, re-adjusted cable....good to go.

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday, cruising down the road at 55 mph, tranny popped out of gear, no resistance at all in the clutch. Could not get it into any gear, had to tow it home...
Did you guy's figure out a resolution to the problem?

'05 and '06 were bad to break main shafts. From what I've been told, BDM uses another source to supply that part to save a few bucks during that time. The heat treatment on the shaft was not up to par and these 2 year models have had many problems with broken main shafts, including mine just last year.

mine did the same thing but the tranny still works fine. someone said that maybe my ball ramp jumped and thats why I could not get any adjustment out of it.

my trans. shaft broke at about 20000 miles, baker rebuild for $350.00 with warranty. they knew they had some bad shafts - and I was Ok with paying something, I did have 20000 miles on it.

If the clutch nut came loose and allowed the basket to move out, I would think it would be the same as not haveing a clutch. Pulling the primary should give you the answer. Also, if the clutch pushrod nut came loose and backed off, it would make you clutchless as well. If your pipes aren't in the way, that would be the quickest check. Good luck. Let us know what you find.

It was the clutch nut that was loose. weird how there was 1.5 quarts of primary fluid and about half a quart of tranny fluid. May have a seal gone
