clogged stator?

I appreciates Svens input (knowledge and time), but I cant understand his riddles and Im not going to spend time trying to figure it out. I have enough scooter problems to deal with. No disrespect to anyone, just being honest.

When the battery is full (on the tender, 13.4), it immediately spins. If I do that a few times, the battery power goes down to 12.4 or 12.5, thats when it hesitates before turning over (negative cable gets hot). Is 12.4 to low to start a 117?

2kw starter and small battery.... It only cranks the engine so many times.. If meter shows 12.4 it may well be too little to start the bike, how low voltage drops when you push start is more relevant number. It's all about amps...

Can't help wondering why you keep starting and turning off the bike until the battery is flat.

I dont start the bike. I spin the engine trying to test when it hangs up, when the battery posts get hot and when it doesnt have enough ass in to turn the motor over. I have a little voltmeter taped to the frame between the tank and seat.
The bike does charge while moving, but rarely goes over 12.6. Im wondering if the rotors
teeth have been stripped and its free spinning on the shaft? Ill pull it apart shortly.

List the voltage values, and somebody might actually have an idea of what going on on your bike.
Like what is the voltage from stator on idle, and around 3000 rpm. what is the voltage on battery engine not running, idle and around 3000 rpm. what is the voltage on FULL battery while starting.
Read the link I gave you, it should have all the info you need to determine whether the problem is on battery, Voltage regulator or stator :cheers:

Thx for the input. I actually meander in BDB and copy and save a lot of the info on here so I can review it later, should that particular problem arise. I did the link already and followed the directions. The findings were posted on another thread someone else started. I need to pull the primary and look inside.
Is it possible the actually touch and move the rotor without having to pull the chain? Im thinking the little teeth are worn off and thats why it'll charge, but not at full capacity. I want to see if the rotor will move/spin while still mounted.

I am way too lazy to start searching for your voltages from other threads.

If you know the problem is now in stator, you need to take it apart and see what is the problem. No point in guessing, though you guess sounds wee bit wild.

Or you could take your bike to shop and let them do it for you...:cheers:

Ive noticed that some aftermarket rotors have vent holes. If our OEM doesnt have them or the one I purchase doesnt have them, would it be advantageous to drill holes? Its not a load bearing item so I dont see a problem.

So now you figured you need a new rotor good, maybe stator too?
Just call KaptinAmerika, Curtis, and let him sell you parts you need. Then don't drill any extra holes. If not for any other reason, I don't think randomly drilling holes to rotor improves it's balance nor function.
