Cleaning the polished engine and fins?

What product or method have you all found to clean and restore the engine to look decent? In particular I am having trouble getting into the fin area on the jugs and the nooks and crannies. I have ordered one of these polishing kits off of ebay. Has anyone tried it?

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

On my Harley it was pretty easy to clean the black wrinkle. Spay on S100 and hose it off...but I am trying to refrain from using a lot of water on my Big Dog.

Gun cleaning kit works good from what I hear. Don't bother with Pimp sticks either, I been there and done that..

Bar Keepers Friend mixed with 409 to a watery paste and a small tooth brush (the kind that has only one or two rows of bristles) that is made for kids with braces.

Lots of previous archived posts on this subject. Use the forum search engine and you'll find some helpful hints. All involve lots of time & elbow grease!

I wish I had more money.
Get yourself a gun cleaning kit. You can chuck up one of the wool mops in a drill and let er' eat.

You should have a gun cleaning kit (oh, get a gun to go with the cleaning kit), toothbrush and paint stick. I think I use Meguiars Metal Polish. Be careful because people will accuse you of having chrome vice polished Aluminium.

any good polish and a thing called a "felt bob". Put it in a drill motor or dremel tool. works great. lasts longer than a gun cleaning rod. I have tried both. The felt Bobs come in different sizes so dont order one thats too large to get in between the fins.

I bought one of these kits a couple months ago and it really works great.Use a good cleaner on the rag and you have no reason to get every place clean;even places where you're the only one who will see it! lol

Luckily my motor is black powder coated and diamond cut. I use a paint stir stick, microfiber cloth and that stuff called pigspit, makes it look as clean and black as brand new. :2thumbs:

Go to Autozone. They have a "Lug nut" cleaning brush in there. Its got three looped wires with nylon bristles. You bend them a little to get between a few fins at once. I used that and engine degreaser gel. Then a spray of S100 engine shine.

O yea, elbow grease and bashed knuckles.
