I saw a product call "Blue Job" that one of our vendors sells, I was wondering if anyone has used this stuff and if it actually works? my Martin Bros. exhaust does not have heat shields so it has turned blue from the heat.
I have V&H 2-2 pipes. Recently when I had them off I tried Blue Job on the area right where the pipes attach to the heads just past the flanges. That is about the only area you can see on my pipes as the heat shields cover most of them-and they were only slightly blued. I only used a little, and gently applied by hand (they show applying with power tools on their video). It did remove some of the bluing...probably would have removed more with buffer and multiple applications. Good luck!
I bought a can off Value Tech. Don gave me a good deal on it. Anyway I have the two into one Kerber pipes. Where the two pipes go into one it "blued" and turned a goldesh color. It took some time and I had to do it a few times. In the end it did remove the "blue". Did nothing for the gold looking part. But then again it states that it will remove the "blue". It left the chrome perfect. No scratches or dulling. And another thing nice about it is since I removed the blue it has never returned back. So I don't know if it prevents it from returning or I am just lucky.
I use Blue-Job on my pipes and it works well! I have Stainless Creations pipes, and when I bought my pipes, Clint recommended the Blue Job for the stainless, so I had some come with my pipes...then I bought a couple cans from Mad Dog @ Value Teck...I have always had great results with it...
I have had melted plastic on pipes several times from my passengers shoes. My daughter left a towel on the hot pipes after I had parked it melted and left the pipes looking really bad. I used a cream used to clean irons (like to iron clothes). Came right off and does not require elbow grease just make sure pipes are hot and wipe with cotton cloth. EZ-Off iron cleaner is the one I have used more often and I used Faultless hot iron cleaner once.
Yea, I noticed that they clean up a little easier when they are warm, but I never thought of using a hot iron cleaner, sounds like a great idea! I'll definatally be using that to get my wifes boot marks off!
