Chroming Sissy Bar

Recently purchased a raw sissy bar for my 08 pitbull. Those of you who do not have an 08 pit it mounts different than most. I assume that if this was bought new/chromed the whole bar including the mounting ears would be chromed??? Ronnie from Brown's asked if it was ok to chrome these mounting ears. Anyone with an 08 pit sissy bar verify if everything is chromed? Any BDM ex employees know if the OEM bar is chromed completely?

thanks for your help

Well tried to mount the newly chromed sissy bar yesterday
Doesn't fit :bang:

I don't have access to a grinder. Is it possible to use a hand drill to grind off a bit? If so what type/grade of grind wheel should I use? Hoping it is due to the chrome. I have a lowboy sissy that looks like the mounting ears are chromed and fits fine.

As always appreciate any/all input

Now you have a excuse to go buy a small hand held side grinder. Gringing wheels are available for your drill but it will take 10 times as long to do the job that a small side grinder will do. And they are not expensive anyway, I have 2 so that I have one in the shop and another in my basement work area.

Harbor freight has die grinders for less than $20. Its a useful tool anyways. I am surprised it didn't fit. Tight tolerances.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you, the small sidegrinders(like the Pic you show) are great to do the job. They are cheap, and I use them all the time, especially when sharpening mowing blades for tractors and mowers. Good luck, grind lightly and do a lot of test fitting between metal removal.
