Man chrome is expensive!!!

I sent out this pile of 41 pieces

Sent it to what I believe is one of the best in the biz.

Brown's Plating

$1850

And as you can see on their site, the prices are going up. I spoke to Ronnie Brown himself today and they are going up about 35% to cover the materials which have, by his acclaim, skyrocketed!! Plus the added EPA regs. That would have teken my job from $1850 to $2500

Our price guide from November 1, 2004 is still current. Due to rising raw material cost we will have a price increase effective February 1, 2008. Our new 2008 catalog has been mailed.
I remember the prices were going to rise in like Dec but I guess due to a issue with the printer that does his catalog he had to delay it. Didn't want to raise prices until all his dealers had the new price guide. Stand up I say.

Anyway, chrome is expensive! And I will for the better education of the group list the prices for chroming of my pieces. But understand these are pre-price jack.

Plate pieces
supporting arm $28
backing plate $55
frame $48
LED hood $28

front fender struts 2x$55=$110

Rear peg clevis 2x$21=$42

Speedo Stem $41
Speedo bucket $48
Speedo lid/tach ring $41

Doherty backing plate $66
spacers 2x$17=$34
cone $55
enricher knob $14

Low Down Chop Shop Axle Spikes $28

S&S air intake $55
flanges 2x$35=$70

clutch cable clamps 4 halfs (2 complete) 2x$35=$70

gas tank metal cups 4x$14=$56

rear caliper mount $98

Front motor mount $113

custom flamed sissy bar $128

4' of exhaust heat shields (4 pieces) $195

Rear Fender struts 2x$113=$226

Yankee motor mount $55
bracket $41

Again, for Brown's at least that plus 35% plus S&H both ways.

is that an all inclusive price??? precleaning/polishing and such?? getting all the scratches out?? they are the best out there in my opinion also. when i had stuff done they told me the cleaner and smoother it was, the cheaper it would be.....that has been a few years tho......actually, for all that you are getting done, the price is very reasonable....

Low Down Chop Shop
I was going to use Browns Plating to do some of my site products and a shop today told me they quit using them because they were forced by the EPA to switch over to the California "gold looking" chrome. So I decided against them until I see otherwise.

So... Gas, let me know if your shit comes back looking gold compared to all your other chrome.:D

Didn't you need some other parts from me to send out too?

Well I need to call up there tomry anyway so i will re-ask so I can set the record straight again. Vickie says Ronnie knows all about the forums and I'll just check to make sure his name isn't smudged. Vickie also said that she has saw stuff from there in the last month and its all been the same shiny silver/blue chrome its always been.

Chuck... all inclusive plus return shipping. The price I'm sure depends on the condition of the part but those heat shields were raw and he charge what I expected... about $50 a foot. And I know its not a bad price it was just a bit of sticker shock!!!

I do have a local company here in Texas that has been doing a good job. No problem looking into that for you guys. Ship to me, I hand carry to the shop and then I ship back to you. They give shop work priority over individual customers so its worth a try.

I'm going to be talking with them next week so if you want me to start a wish list, PM me or send a note to bdmforum@wbcycles.com

That's is my POV and why gamble it with parts off a $30,000 bike.

I'm sure you could ask Vickie about this. I know when she was at KC they tried a few other chromers and always went back to Brown's.

Chroming

Hey Nelson, WB Cycles
I use Advance Chroming in Ft Worth, Texas and they have fantastic pricing.
But I have not sent any aluminum over there. They charged me $45 each on the brake rotors which to me is a great price. They also do custom ingraving on parts. Plus they are good people too.
