Chrome Repair

Energy One
I hav chrome bubbling/flaking in a cpl hard areas - top of inner primary & top of right transmission door on my '05 Chopper. Does anyone know of a repair method as this will be a major tear down? Also has anyone used Caswell's 'Plug N' Plate' Electroplating Chrome to repair parts - ebay listing. Manufacturer says will work & stay but will hav a fine hair line where meets/overlaps existing chrome. All ideas & info is appreciated. Thanks

Only method I know is to strip and rechrome the entire part.
Agree with ya on that. The "plug and plate" stuff would be the same as spraying paint over rust blistered paint. The finish will only be as good as the layer underneath it.

Yeah... no cutting corners on chrome plating.. got to have it actually acid bathed, sand blasted etc... good luck

The inner primary may just be cheaper to buy a used one as stripping and plating will be expensive.
The trans doors are rare used and very expensive new so re-plate is the best option there just make sure they mask it correctly so you don't lose tolerance in the pressed bearing areas or end up with chrome where you don't want it.

Yea, I just had my outer primary cover done, and I think it would have been cheaper to just buy a new one.
