chrome or billet aluminum

well I am polishing my 2006 k9 rims thinking they are chrome ,using a mothers buffing ball and chrome polish ,noticed the ball was turning black. I thought that only happened with aluminum? stock rims,the tribal type . does somebody know, or should I say;am I the only one who doesnt know, Crash,:confused::flag:

Black is generally a characteristic of polished aluminium. If you get black while cleaning chrome, then whatever was on your chrome to begin with was black as well.

Polish aluminum for sure, and you will need to polish them real good every yr. and a lite polish couple more times through out the season, especially the rear rim. Ask me how i know.

Just use a soft terry cloth or soft cotton towel to polish. When it turns black whipe it off with a soft clean cotton t-shirt. If you keep on it it, it is easy to maintain without alot of rubbing

After you polish them up is there something you can put on to protect them? Do you throw wax on them?
