Chopper Whobbles on bumps?

So Love my bike, but one thing I have noticed is when I am in a Leaning curve, and hit a big bump/ dip / bouncy spot on overpasses, the bike wobles,.. very unsettleing. I am used to it, expect it, but it dont seam right.


Is this normal? cause of the rake? I checked the Fork/neck of the frame and its not a loose/ worn problem.

I do have ONE fork seal leaking? so maybe the unbalanced shocks on the front fork?

Any ideas?

so you think its the forks not being even?

And I dont know that they are not, but I do know if i hit a BIG bump I can find some fork opil on the forks where its getting past the seal on the left side. So I know I am going to redo them with some new seals and stuff.

don't know what you mileage is, but the owners manual says to rebuild the forks at 10k, i did at 8.5k and was glad i did. the bushings were right at being worn out, so would suggest a rebuild in your future if you are getting close. would also recommend going with 30wt oil (10 oz. each) which is what came in the bike from the factory.

unless you have changed out your handlebar bushings,,, if those are worn out you will feel it on bumps... I suggest urethane one's from wild steedworx

Check your alignment and the condition of your shock(s), as well as swing arm bushings, these items are what causes wobble. I'm sending your air filter tomorrow.

Don't forget tire pressure and tire wear.

That about cover it........nope we forgot fall away and neck bearing wear.

I would check all of the above!!!! Mine handles like a champ at any speed in turns bumps squirrels whatever!!:2thumbs:

The leak is too subtle to have an effect as in leaking down the tube, peppers over the bike, back to the pants and that kind of peppering of a leak, then no. I'd more go with the air pressure suggestion as the first step clearing some sort of wobble when other owners are saying the bike is stable.

Either you are low in pressure or there is cupping of tire at the front and a flat spot at the rear. This would be that kind up upright riding more than banking thru corners 95% of the time.

If I remember correct you just got the bike not too long ago and you don't know if it was leaking prior to buying it, also when the bike was shipped he could have strapped it down too much during shipping and that would force some oil out or even started the leak itself. Unless you drained out the oil and put the right amount back in, theres no way right now of knowing how much oil is in the shock. The shock is leaking, your having handling problems, you need to fix the problems first (leaking shock) and then go from there.:whoop::zz2cents:

one of the first things a new owner should do with a used bike is to change out all the fluids and inspect for wear, measuring the fluids removed to get an idea of what is going on internally. most forget that the forks are just as important as the motor, primary, and transmission. :2thumbs:

Bike had brand new tires, and are at the correct pressures, Checked them often. and did Right before my last ride.

I did check the Nech bearng for looses, ness but not fall away. (was unaware of that)

The rear end has a new set of progressivve 422s, on it so that should be good. Will work on rebuilding forks and go from there. still a blast to ride.

My girls bike had the same issue. It had relatively new tires also. Turned out a belt separated in the rear, yes rear tire. Replaced tire and issue gone.

Nope I rode it to my mothers house and it was leaking out of that fork more now. SO new seals will be on there way this week. Well see if that fixes it, if not it needs that addressed anyway. then I will be checking the Break Away/ Fall away.
