Chopper vs K9

Riding time is almost here in Michigan. Can't wait to get out on my Chopper...but have really been considering upgrading to the newest year K9 I can find...close to where I live that is. I love my bike, but would really like to move up to the "300 club". What are the biggest differences...besides the obvious right side drive? I've read the the 107's that came in the 04 choppers were actually a little faster than the 117's....any truth to that? I would think it would just be a tuning thing and maybe some upgrades. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated...

Thankk Everyone...

I have an '07 K9. Friend of mine has '05 chopper with the 107. Yes, his bike runs a helluva lot better than mine and his with the 250 rear, handles a bit better too. I've noticed my K9 with the 300 likes to go straight but I am in Western Kansas and we have miles and miles of straight line ASSphalt so I am partial to my K9....

Hi JPoirier. I have a 2009 efi k-9 which I put the 585 cam in but not the jugs and pistons in yet and it runs really good. I am here in Michigan also. Some of the older big dog 107 motors were non epa motors and would be a little quicker than the newer 117 epa motors. If you get a 117 just put the hot set up kit from S@S in, which comes with a 585 cam. 40 thousandths cut down jugs and new pistons. If you want to put in a bigger cam you will have to have the heads reworked by John Sachs or someone. I'm pretty sure the older 107s came with a 569 or 585 cam. Can't remember for sure which one it is. Good luck!!!
