Well got my RIP installed and all wired up. Among other things:

Rebuilt speed sensor wire lead
Rebuilt speedometer harness
New starter
New battery
Polished all the aluminum

Few more details and she should be ready to roll again. Been dead since 2 weeks before Sturgis.

Ugh! :nonod: I'm not looking forward to doing that... :oldnono:
A few notes - Take all your tools and put away. About halfway through you will want to throw something. Do not fold any wires over backwards. The bundle will never bend enough to get through the backbone hole. Don't use black electrical tape. It is messy. Get the cheap vinyl tape. Less sticky and will not make that much of a mess. line all the connectors up so they are in line as much as possible but enough room that after you tape it all up it is flexiable and will bend.
Take your time!

My biggest issue was mounting the unit on the fender. They way KMW recommended I did not like as it put a sharp bend in the harness. I had the HCI/PDM kit and the seat had to be modified for that so I had enough room to mount the unit on a set of spacers. It looks like there is an over lap but it really has enough space and the harness bends nicer. Ideally there should have been a bracket that the unit mounted to but I took care of it.

Oh. I don't need it quite yet. My bike is running (knock on wood). But I know it's in my future..
