I can not believe someone would just video tape this and not grab a fire extinguisher.:angry: To spend that amount of time getting a video camera to document this when there had to be time to put it out quickly is unbelievable. I understand being safe but there was a time that this could have been put out vice taking video.:bang:
I could be wrong but it don't seem right.

Well, I guess they waited too long and needed a Fireman. But, if it were me, I would respond quickly and still hit it with a fire extinguisher. I guess I feel I can assume a certain amount of risk since I am out there riding around with all the texting and talking on the phone Cagers!
The bike had a good burn going and in a minute and 30 seconds, I don't see anyone even getting a fire extinguisher vice taking a video.
Again, since I wasn't there it is hard to know what could have been done but obviously what was done seemed right at the time and I can't find fault for that. A persons safety comes first for me also.

That's crazy!! You can tell by watching video, fire was not started by the fuel in the tank...the fuel in the tank didn't ignite until the last few seconds of the video, when the gas cap blew off and then the "Gas" Ignited. Until that point, the fuel in the tank was most likely just boiling (yes you can boil Gasoline, that's how you make Napalm...not that I would know this 
) Once the cap blew off, the fuel was able to vaporize and light on fire....I would guess that it was caused by an electrical short...maybe direct short from battery to starter...otherwise, most everything else is protected by circuit breakers.
Oh, on another note...you can put a cigarette out in a Gasoline puddle on the ground...not like the movies where someone lights on fire using one...

Why???? If that were mine and someone tried to put it out....I would be pissed. Let it burn to the ground. I'll settle for insurance and get on ebay and buy another one.....

Well, I am not a fan of trying to replace a bike that I worked so hard to get running and looking the way I want. I also don't believe that the insurance will compensate what I have. Insurance is legalized gambling and in the end they win and make a profit or thy would not be in business. They jacked the rates 3 to 6 times higher after Katrina down here. It isn't worth making a claim. If I didn't have to have house and bike insurance I wouldn't. I would be self insuranced.

The VR used to catch on fire on some bikes around 2006 & 2007. That is when BDM came out with a replacement and the 40 Amp fuse instead to the CB which would never trip when it was supposed to. I guess that may of been where the fire started and the on up to the gas tank, wires, seat well the whole bike. Hope the owner wasn't the one with the video cam. If that would of been my dog I would have at least pisst on it, who know that may have helped some.

I agree brew ,, that pisses me off too, might have been that wench that run all over five-five talking on the cell phone!
