Choosing between K9 and Chopper

Local couple has an 07 K9 and 07 chopper for sale for the same price. Ive been doing my research on the electrical problems and cracked frames that some folks run into with the K9's and wondered if the chopper has any common issues. My understanding is the chopper is a few inches shorter, has a 250 rear tire and some harley components. Im an aircraft mechanic so I'm not worried about putting in some work but would like to know what i may have to look forward to if i buy one of them.

This will be an interesting thread. I am thinking about another bike my self and can't decide chopper or K9. Pros and cons to each model. Both are great bikes!

I personally would prefer a 250 over 300 and i would guess that some harley parts might not be a bad thing since BD went under. Just wondering what issues the chopper has.

Can't speak for the 07 chopper, but my 2005 has run fine since day one (about 60k on it now), with very few issues. It has never left me stranded, whether in sun, rain, sleet and only a little snow! Not sure about the HD parts that work on it (other than fork seals).

Looking forward to retirement
image.jpg image.jpg Well, I have a 03 Chopper and absolutely LOVE it! Put 300 miles on My Black bitch this weekend running down to my Inlaws! I could do 600 miles no problem on this bike. Have done 500 multiple times!

In my humble opinion:

2004 Chopper Owner:
Loved the bike since day one in 2004.
Like the curves of the gas tank.
Like the bulging left side primary look.
Like the smaller layout since I am under six feet.
250 rear tire is less expensive, gone thru 3; yes many parts are same as Harley...
in todays used market the chopper will be less costly to buy; maintain about the same...
newer Rolling Thunder frame never had any cracks.

K-9 (if I could get a good deal on one)
300 tire, bigger is better
larger layout
right side drive

Most people will prefer the K-9;
but I am happy with my Chopper, (due to recent events could have totaled my bike and take the cash out towards a used K-9; but decided to get a total make over on my 2004 Chop; "Kaptin Amerika" and "Raywood" giving me a hand! stay tuned...)

I've got an 03 choper too and Love it!! To be 100% honest - its never left me stranded either - until yesterday! uuuugggggg Electrical gremlin - had to push start it. Got home and now its fine. Gotta love the gremlins.

Still a great bike tho. I like the 250, and the ez to work on with some HD commonality. I too like the lines of the tank better. Almost sold it to hunt for a K9 but decided to stick with it. Glad I have.

I have both, -03 Chopper and -08 K9. Being tall (6'3") K9 gives me more room, Chopper feels lighter, more like eager puppy. Both are great bikes to ride. I'd say try both and go wich feels to fit better.

Get the one you like. Ride both and make sure you consider "I wish I would have purchased the other one" prior to the purchase. Again, get the one you like and love the one your with:)
