Chirping Noise!

My gf first noticed it from the p-pad
1. Extra weight?
2. Low tire pressure?
3. Tire to frame is to look at the circumference of the right sidewall, then right side tread surface from right to center. Here ear calls the ball.

and if not ...WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY BE?
1. Load and lift are a constant move as you try to stabilize two moving weights.
2. You lift, it chirps. That to me says; belt riding up on tooth.
3. If this is a constant 360° intermittent chirp, then it is rub.
4. If this is [ask her] for her memory has to answer this one. Were we chirping as you more sensed him lift on throttle?
5. I would assume, chirp on throttle, you'd be flown off the back if you were not holding on?
6. Or, you have a loose belt. Not flapping loose, but not belt tight tight either.

Bottom line:
A. Tire rub on bump ~ Added weight ~ Low tire ~ I'll show you where I rub.
B. Output shaft to rear tire ~ Belt tension ~ I will show you where I squeak.
C. Normal ~ I wash my bike a lot. I do not notice any obvious rub spots when I dry her down. I have a squeaky clean pulley and belt. I shoot it with a silicone spray that is safe for rubber, the squeak goes away... WOT does that say?

I actually rubbed a candle on the outer edge of the belt and have had zero noises coming from the belt. The CHIRP is gone. So,I guess I try to align the belt, but also think about a Supermax pulley change???
The chirping noise is GONE....the bird is dead.

This might help....

IMO...The BDM belt tension spec is extremely too tight, it's like a damn banjo string. It doesn't need to be that tight and it contributes to premature rear wheel bearing failures and damaged hubs.

We run both our 07 Bulldogs at about 1 to 1.25" belt deflection with little push force ~4lbs. We have NOT had any slippage problems or chirping in 18k miles with chromed rear rotors.

UPDATE:

1" to 1.25" I feel is too loose now after running several seasons. My rear pulley has some signs of wear so we now run the belts tighter at about 3/4" to 1" movement.

Most likely belt chirp...a well known issue. Take a bar of soap to the side edge of the belt (not the teeth) and see if it goes away for a while. If so you may need to align the rear wheel.

Yup Yup! Been there done that!

I wish I had more money.
I've had a chirp for ever. When I snap off the throttle little chirp. Not sure where it comes from but has done it consistently for the five years that I've had it. Does it bother me? No or it wouldn't still chirp I guess.

First chirping noise I had was the headlight bucket cracked around the mounting bolts.

Second chirping was the top motor mount. Removed cleaned the bolt off loctite and torqued it down no more chirps since...

Could be the upper motor mount that's when mine made the chirp...

:up::up::up:

I took a stick of ski wax and rubbed in on my belt. Noise went away. It usually last about 3000 or so miles, and then it will start to come back.

I bought an '04 Ridgeback about a month ago and this "chirp" has been the bain of my existence. Just curious as to whether or not you ever acheived a chirp-free ride...

I have never heard of anyone ever doing that, much less doing it myself.
You keep talking like that and we'll have to pull your man card.

Mobsta is right. My chirp was on decel only. Even coasting slowing in a parking lot. It was so bad at times that it sounded like a swarm of crickets were with me. I read some threads on here and went to Lowes for the spray. By coincidence, the guy helping me previously owned a bicycle shop. He told me the dry lube is best for my belt. I spun my wheel and squirted the pulley teeth and edges and let it dry. All fixed, no more crickets! $6 at Lowes, $26 online, Amazon I think.

My gf first noticed it from the p-pad position, but there is a chirping type of noise coming from the right side possibly near the belt/tranny area!Is this a typical noise, and if not ...WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY BE?
I had a chirping noise and it was broken tabs/loose exhaust heat shield. The "belt loops" that exhaust clamps go through to hold down heat shield [rear] had broken. This was just 2 days ago. Used stainless steel tie wraps for now. Chirping noise gone.
