Ok so it must be that time of the year? Maybe just reaching that 3yr aged bike marker? Long winter?
It's only mid may and I have diagnosed and been spot on 5 for 5 in the past couple weeks.
Dry, crusty, or water wet EHC connections causing rolling dead bikes or completely lit EHC fault lights. Stunned dog.
If they're wet dry them out and refill with dielectric grease. The grease dispurses water and ensures a proper connection on the pins. As long as they are filled with grease water won't get in there.
If they have crusty old dielectric grease, remove some of the crusty without tampering with the pins too much. They are delicate. Then... you guessed it refill with dielectric grease.
If they is very little dielectric grease, simply repack.
When I say pack with dielectric I mean fill both the EHC and wiring harness sides with the dielectric grease. It should oooz out a bit when you re-insert the wiring harness. Wipe up excess and you're GTG.
A EHC sample with the wires harnesses plugged in.
Here's a example of some crusty red stuff that BDM used
But remember to pack both sides. Then snug up the 4 set screws (2 each harness). If you have a broken screw or tab, no big deal, simply zip tie over the harness and under the ehc. That will keep it snug.
This may be a good idea to just check now, before it catches you on the side of the road.
