Hello my friends. I drop you a note from the Arctic Circle Finland!

I got my Bulldog -07 and immediately had a problem. I changed the stock pipes into Big Radius 2-1, fired it up and everything looked just fine. I switch off the bike and admired the result. Then I wanted to hear some more of that great sound and tried to start the bike, the ENGINE CHECK / MALFUNCTION-light came up and didn’t go out even though I pushed the RUN-button…starter didn’t make a sound…nothing! Pissed is not the right word, I was scared! You see I am a “mec-retard” i.e. all my fingers are thumbs - I can admit that! What to do next because in our country (5,5 million people) we have only 8 registered Big Dogs and none of them are EFI.

I started to surf on the internet and found this awesome website. I registered and tried to figure it out how to proceed. Here are members who know a lot and are willing to share their “wisdom”…sweet! I contact to Neil (nomad2today) because he had also -07 Bulldog and he kindly, patiently and very meticulously (with pics!) guided me how to fix this problem. I install the Pro Tune II and bought suitable pc-cable and then reset all the error codes - after Neil had showed me how the EFI- box looks like and where the port is - bang fired it up! I think that the bike was on AIR RIDE MODE…or something like that. I don’t know which makes me happier, that the bike started or I fixed it by myself (with Neil’s kind help of course).

Neil, once again I want to thank you in public and highly appreciate your help. I also want to thank people who invent this great forum.

I wish all the best to you good people and continue waiting my riding season which is about to start in few weeks. I need to stay focus otherwise it could pass by - it’s quite short

RETIRED
Two years ago, I was ready to sell my 07 Bulldog because of lack of local support and not knowing where to start with my problems. After I found this forum and the support that you can find on here, I have kept my bike running without relying on someone else to experiment on my bike at my cost. Corndog, you are right, this is a great place to be and am glad you got your problems solved.

It funny, I have a Bulldog .. the site has helped in too many ways to count. I must be a lucky one, if the battery is on the trickle charge, it has always started.

Thanks Corndog for the results of your work and happy everything worked out.
It is good to know oceans cannot keep us from helping each other on this forum.
How cool it is someone in Finland is riding a big Dog... You Michigan boys thought you had it bad..lol
I believe this is the spirit that Bubblehead created this forum for. To reach out to others especially Big Dogs but not inclusive to them and help those that are in need so they can do what we all love, Ride them Bikes..
Great forum Tim..

Hi there!

Sorry it took so long time to reply - I was out of the "area".

Okey, what I understood (very limited) the Air Ride mode - light was on i.e. the red light was shining in EHC-box. It started to act weird after the exchange of the exhaust pipes. MY QUESS is that the battery level was low (less than 270 Amps) and the EFI-box didn't have time to "learn" the new pipes or something like that. Anyhow after resetting the error-codes it works great. I just reset the codes so unfourtunately I don't have any accurate info about them - sorry!

Also the Hi-beam indication light and RPM-lights didn't work in the tachometer, so I replaced the tacho-ring and now it works perfectly. I asked help for this problem early (before I knew this forum) from the Iron Lightning shop in Tulsa. There is a Finnish lady working so we can communicate in our own language - that makes my life a way much easier! Thanks Carita

About batteries. I bought EUROGLOBE-battery which appeared to be a mistake - cheap! So I replaced it to EXIDE-battery and the amps are totally different. EUROGLOBE 268 amps and EXIDE 436 amps when starting.

Maybe I should make new threads of these probs especially when the problems are solved in quite easy way:cheers:

That's that. Sorry again it took so long to replay.
