Cheap Handgrip Mod

Well I've been through 4 sets of grips on my bike because I can't find anything I like or that worked for very long. I've tried the stock big dog grips, bullet all billet grips, banded grips and now finally the xoprodox knurled grips. Basically my issue was the big dog rubber sucks, they turn your hands all black and the glue eventually works out. The billet grips work OK but I don't want to always wear gloves. So my most recent grips are the knurled type I bought from xoprodox and the knurl never was heavy enough for me so I tried this idea of buyng some avon rubber replacement sleeves and soak them in boiling water for about 10 minutes and slipped them over my existing grips. They work great and for $5.95 well worth it. The rubber is not real thick and it does not turn your hands black at all. You can also buy some renthal rubber sleeves from performance machine but that will cost you $30 for a pair. Here's where you can get the sleeves. You have to be creative when cash is low.

Very interesting...my chrome is flaking off my stock grips and this could be an inexpensive cover up.

Thanks Al!

Ray, its staying put pretty good. I was prepared to use some grip glue if needed but so far none needed. I should add that the OD of the grip was 1.550 and knurled so if your grip OD is smaller and smooth some glue might be needed. But honestly it takes quite a bit to get these puppies on.

Those are cool i was thinking about some clear ones for all my grips and pegs but i bet they would yellow. Really would not care if they was cheap enough to replace. I have the chrome with the flames etched in them.Impossible to keep clean...
