Charging system pooped on me this weekend.

Well as the title says pooped out. THing is it may have been jacked up for some time. Rarely do I ride for distance. I always put the bike back on the tender when done. Except for Saturday night. Sunday we go for the haul. Battery is dead. I changed it with a buddy to get me home. When we get back to the house his is dead and mine is charged off his bike. Pooped I tell ya. So what now?

I got a 2003 chop and had to replace vr.

Mine popped once & ran the battery dead. Reset & never happened again.

Well, I really can't answer that, somebody who knows 03 models will have to chime in.

Probably the stator. Check to see if there is any AC juice coming out of the stator plug.

Mike, I have to go along with the pound on this. If it's not the VR, then most likely the stator. I've had both go out on mine and either will drain the battery. Actually, it will drain the battery then leave you on the side of the road. Good luck. Let us know what you find. Shit man, the weekend is here. Get that Dog running!

check all the connections first - could be that simple.

As Lee said check simple stuff first. Also should have a breaker or a fuse coming from the VR.

Do have a fuse and it was ok. It is the vr. Checked it at the stator plug a coupld different ways and it was all happy. Then I checked it at the battery and no so happy. Bought the ne reg today and will get it in in the morning.
