Could someone please tell me if the ring that holds the headlight is counter clockwise or clockwise to remove before I get pissed and throw the whole headlight away and buy a new one for no reason!

One of the old ones.
All respects onaprowl, but did you remove the tiny Allen set screw under the 6:00 position?
I sprayed mine with a bit of penetrating oil, then cleaned up the ring and used rubber gloves as mentioned above. I also gently tapped around the outside of the ring with a plastic hammer hoping to help the oil penetrate the threads.
If you can get the thing to move a millimeter, you'll win. In fact, as I recall it was the next day when that ring finally moved.

Good luck, it can be a pain in the ass. If your like me, save the whiskey until after you get it off..I got pissed off and ended up drilling a small hole through the set screw hole so I could get the edge of a punch on the ring and tap it loose. Worked but I'l need to pick up a new ring someday

That's basically what I did with mine to. I didn't mind having to replace a ring, but it bothered me not being able to ride due to a burnt out headlight.

I've stripped out the allens on both K-9s I've owned -- these days my beauty ring is held in place after its screwed in with a really small dab of clear silicon on the top underside of the bucket where you can't see it.
Hit it with a knife, use the gloves and comes right off.
Whoever decided to use a stupid small allen set screw is on my list!
