Changing gas tank

I have a 2002 Pit Bull with the double tanks, & the POS lightweight center section down the middle. My center section is cracked all to hell (previous owner over-tightened it) & I now had to superglue the end pieces that kept vibrating off.

Does anyone know of a kick-ass one piece tank (possibly stretched tank) that would work? I'm a lifelong crotch rocket rider until recently, so finding parts / suppliers for these things is still new to me.

Help!

Have you look into just buying a new center piece. Possible with that year that you could find one of the many style of Fat Bobs center that would work or work with little mods. Possibly J&P, Drag Specialties, Custom Chrome, etc.

Also possible that you could have a steel one fabricated up.

If you go with a single tank, for the electronics, could still set them in the tank by doing a custom fab pocket cup.

Just some ideas. Let us know how you make out.

imo the easiest & cheapest route is to replace the dash panel.the reason they all crack is that no-one pays attention to the lower/rear mounting tab.there should be no air gap between the top of the bracket and the lower hole on the dash panel.you can bend the bracket into place or shim it with a large washer until it rests on that tab, then you will not have anymore cracking issues.good luck with the bike.
