changed belt & now it won't go

Energy One
Hello, wondering if anyone can help me or has run across this same issue. I have an 05 Ridgeback & was changing the tire & notice a small tear in my belt. so upon replacing the tire, I decided to do the belt (right side drive) myself. I pulled off the tire, pipe & the clutch cover with the long rod that goes through to the clutch......I pulled off the old belt & threw on the other one. when I got it back together I went to go for a test ride & when I drop it in gear it acts as if the clutch is still pulled in. Did I tighten the rod too tight or something could have slipped out of place? I'm at a loss here on what to do or what may have happened?

just asking the obvious, are you sure you put the clutch rod back in? make sure you have the ball and ramp put back together properly, they tend to slip out of their holes and cause what you are describing.

Sounds like the ball and ramp is not in the correct position. If it is pulled forward doesn't have any tension. Ball and ramp should be pulled all the way back. Hope that makes since.

If the rod weren't in the clutch would be engaged all the time, true?

If all he did was to take off the pulley cover in one piece how could the balls fall out of place?

I'll go with the clutch rod is adjusted too tight...

I stand corrected and agree with Denis. Should have read better ball and ramp was not touched.

Thanks all for the help, Dennis you were right. I simply pulled the pipes back o0ff & loosened the clutch pull rod a bit & she worked perfect. Man that's a touchy one to tighten. Note to self..Next time I will make sure it's adjusted perfectly before buttoning it all up.
