Been off the roads for awhile and only using the wife's Nightrain for getting to work -- spent the last six months tearing down and rebuilding the Bulldog. I was fed up with the EHC and wanted new paint..and a few other fixes. I started off having the work done by an independent shop and had to finish it my self. Before the pictures, what I learned so far;

1. Sorry the economy is bad and people are out of work. But for biz owners that can't get their shit together, I say Fuck You. Had to fire a bike shop (nice guy but incompetent) and a painter (idiot with drug problems). :bang:

2. Chris is right - no one will work on your bike like you. I tried to help these guys stay in biz, but shit, I got cash and I can't find a decent shop in the area -- fuck 'em. :down:

3. Chicks like the sound of the open primary. :D

4. Wire-Plus harnesses are OK, but their directions suck and have errors. Their tech folks are real helpful and honest. :up:

5. The order of mounting stuff is important. Think things thru or you'll be taking things off again to get to a bolt. :bang:

6. Don't trust anyone to torque your bolts -- if it breaks or comes loose, you crash, not them. :(

7. FIND YOUR OWN PAINTER! Once I took back control of the job the paint turned out excellent. Aleycia (formerly a painter for BDM - now independent) did an AWESOME job on the tank. The fender chick was done by the original painter -- she'll be replaced this winter since she just ain't that good. :up:

8 Seatmaker does great work and he's fast -- I wish more biz owners were like him. :2thumbs:

Picture time:

Old Bike;

Rebuilt, Road-tested ride;

Wrapped Pipes;

I was tired of the fluid primary and envious of Thumper's;

Fed up with the whole clutch cable adjusting and griping it in heavy traffic -- over to a hydrulic clutch actuator

Wanted new paint and powdercoating -- besides, who doesn't like chicks?

Still experimenting with the speedo mounting;

50 cal shell to cover the hole from the old ignition switch;

Thanks guys for the compliments -- It's taken too long and been a PITA but the end result is really great.

I went with a Wire-Plus post mounted unit with the ignition switch built-in, so no need for the OEM version. The original wouldn't hold the key in anymore anyway!

Looks great chacha, looks great and all your efforts paid off. I know exactly what you mean with these shops today, it just floors me when this economy is so rough and yet these bike shops don't seem that they want your business let alone have any knowledge about customer service. When you get a chance tell us about the wire plus conversion on your new harley style hand controls/switches.

Great job, the paint is awesome. I noticed you replaced the handlebar switches but I thought the new Wire Plus module allowed the use of existing BDM switches? I was thinking about getting the Wire Plus module also, but the bad instructions is a definite turn-off. I'd hate to burn something up because they can't write instructions properly. Also, I agree with you that it's difficult to find good, reliable businesses. That's why I'm trying to do most of my maintenance myself.
