Ceramic Coating

I am going Wed to get a quote on the pipes. I had one place setup but was told they wouldn't be able to "shack" the pipes to give them the high quality smooth finish. F that...

So I called a few other places.

What I want to know... Is it worth getting them ceramic coated inside and out? Or just do the outside and be done with it? I have heard differing opinions on this...

if you want the outside to be chrome I would just do the inside. If you want the pipes to be black then I would do in and out.

In your case coating the inside will be a waste of money IMO. The reason most people ceramic coat the inside is to prevent or reduce blueing on chrome or stainless pipes. There is a small claim on performance gains by doing so but I have heard don't do it for that reason only because the extra cost is not worth it. Besides your going with black on the outside which should be easier to find a coater.

Thats an awsome job on your headers vegas, Hope my silver ceramic pipes turn out close to that.

Thanks Al....I agree that ceramic coating the inside of a pipe that is ceramic coated on outside is a waste of money. The ceramic coating on the outside should cut down on heat and look great for years to come.

Close to you and affordable. Also they dip them so the inside will get done regardless. These pics were of his aluminum valve covers that he had coated and the pipes. They were raw steel too and this is how they turned out (Pics do them no justice):

That is my dads 31 Chevy, Those are Thunder Power Hemi Heads for a Big Block Chevy. That is a late 502 Crate motor with them. Here is the car:

Yeah all I want to achieve is the nice smooth matte or flat black finish on the outside. Remember on my pipes I have chrome holed heat shields that will cover alot of the pipe.

I had Exotic Skins say something about doing inside and out. But I don't think I need this. I'm going by their place tomry and would like to be armed with more info.

i have heard the same thing, that the inside being done is only as Al said, just to keep the outside chrome or stainless in good condition.

Before you do it, talk to Jet Hot. They did the ceramic coating on my Cobra side pipes. Ten years old and look brand new. You can beat their coating with a hammer and it won't ding or blemish. Truely a quality job.

I didn't even know this was availiable for our pipes. I have only been looking at pipes with heat shields since I prefer a bright finish.

How do these pipes compare in looks to Chrome when finished with the Silver coating....and what kind of cost would someone be looking at.

I want to get the Stainless Creation "Disorder" pipes

but it doesnt look like they have heat shields.
