Carb vs. EFI..

your thoughts between the two. As I'm looking for my K9 I've seen a few EFI's and don't read allot here from those having EFI.

Both my HD's have EFI (no problem) but I'm close to a dealer whereas no BD dealers near by and the only authorized service center near by the shop is a mess. :bang:

Thanks

Carb. No experience with BD EFI but HD EFI can be involved to tune. Carb is simple jet swaps and tweaking and a helluva lot cheaper than power commander etc.

Old school here, carb all the way. Plus carbs look cool. Leave the EFI for the Japs. Love my XXX carb.

I'm no expert, but what I've learned from this site is that the efi bikes are nice if you like them stock. If you want to do any modifying,(cam etc.) go with the carb bikes. They're a little more hot rod friendly. You can still hot rod the efi bikes, but can be a little more involved.

My opinion is that EFI bikes , in theory, have an advantage over carbs. But, in practice it seems to me that carb bikes present fewer problems and can be tuned easier than EFIs. Less expensive too! Besides, an S&S Super G will get the job done for what most people want.

I like my EFI S&S, it's stock except for the Big Radius pipes. It gets 40+ MPG has self adjusting fuel mapping and runs great. If you disconnect the battery for storage over the winter the EFI will revert back to factory preset and will relearn the mapping all over again which was not an issue back in Michigan.

I had EFI on the Harley and now on the K-9. Small mods (pipes, air fliter etc) and the EFI will relearn itself by just riding no need to re-jet. Other changes (cam, comp increase etc) will require tweaking the program in the module which at this point is gray area to me and not positive it can be done due to the program may be locked for editing. Nomad is the resident EFI guru! :zz2cents:
