carb vent plug question

I have a 03 chop and just put a new super g carb on and rewired the bike with a single fire ign. System and it has V & H big radius pipes and a dual runner intake 107" motor
I have seen where with a after market breather you should remove the aux vent plug
my question is in the carb tuning guide its #14 on the exploded view
looking at carb from breather side its on the outside bottom left if I am looking at it correctly a little allen wrench removes it
the reason I want to confirm is because it just seemed odd to just leave an open hole on the outside of my carb so any input is appreciated...
thanks

yep #14 in the tuning guide, but notice #8, thats the normal bowl vent path that works with the S&S tear drop cleaner. When you start jacking around with other air cleaner set ups they suggest removing #14. I guess they figure another set up may cover up #8

Not doubting anyone word just confirming
how does it not get dirt/debris in this hole and fubar the carb since its basically just an open hole on 5he outside of the carb I am just trying to grasp it I guess if it allows more air in doesnt it pull dirt also??
Thanks

I am not sure if it "sucks" air... but I know it does compensate for the atmospheric pressure inside the carb.

I´ve had it off for more than a year now and I have not found any crap inside the carb when I checked it out. If S&S recommends taking it out... I guess they know what they are saying?

Someone with more techinical acknoledge answer this one... please?

Not doubting you by any means franco I appreciate the input I just figured I would put a pic to verify I was pulling the correct plug since it was outside a filtered area I have had my share of trouble with the dog and so called techs working on it so I am just trying to grasp what I can on my own
thanks

All good Mike, yep, that´s the one in your pic.

I am hoping someone can give us a better explanation. I am curious too.

Ok pulled the vent plug and went up a int. Jet size ran ok but still some hesitation and poppping at low rpm I have to work so I will go through the carb and timing procedure first chance I get with the new carb and ignition setup I might just have to work with it and find the sweet spot
