Carb problem?

I have a 2006 pit. It fires up just fine, idles fine, and when in neutral, it revs up fine. Once i have it warmed up, when I close the enrichner and take off it bucks and pops and cuts out, and basically runs like crap. It will do this for miles and miles. If I pull up on the enrichner just a little bit, the bike smooths out and runs great. No popping, no stalling. Just a little enrichner makes the engine run like new. If I push the enrichner back down, even if I've been riding for a half hour, it goes back to cuttiing out and popping.

What gives? Please help!

Check your fuel/air adjust, idle adjust, float level with s/s specs make sure you are where they need to be. I have never used my enrichner since i bought the bike.:2thumbs:

Note to self. Type faster.

Did it just start doing this all of a sudden? Did you do some wok on the bike (Carb) ? Did you mess with the A/F mixture screw?

sounds like a slight air leak,, enrichener adds more fuel... check carb mounting bolts for tightness,, and try the carb spray cleaner applied to the manifold area carb and head while running and listen for engine rpm change or stumble

Should I be concerned that when I pulled off the air cleaner cover and took off my air filter, the air filter was super oily? Like nasty oily and greasy.

I changed the filter hoping that would be the root of all evil. Unfortunately it did not solve my problem. Looking at rebuilding the carb.

popping back thru the carb is a lean condition, which doesn't automaticaly indicate an air leak, it could be lack of fuel which you are correcting by engaging the enrichener circuit. If the bike has been sitting for awhile I would suspect an ethanol induced problem in the carb. After an air leak check, drop the fuel bowl and ensure cleanliness and proper needle and seat function, clear passages, etc. Same applies to the accelerator pump.

Mine pretty much did the same thing. Wouldn't run unless the enricher was up a little. I had to rejet my carb. No problems since. Good luck.

pull air filter & drop carb bowl. wash out, clean jets, if bike ran ok before & it still runs bad,
look at rubber hoses on carb. [two rubber plugs on top! too]
let us know what happens

the bike had been sitting for awhile then i noticed it. Thanks everyone for the tips!
Sitting a while.....not sure how long, but consider draining your tank and getting some fresh gas in there.

Cleaning out the cab n filter is a must.
Good luck

Check that both venturi ports on top of the carb are capped off as mentioned here. The rubber caps have a tendency to crack or blow off if the bike backfires.
