 That's about as hard a laugh I made too, woody. I hope Franco doesn't take it wrong. I mean, come on... Over a carbeerate her and you ductape her legs open anshit?

All I did was quote the OP'smelly handsaido dishitape wize guy. :zwhistle:

Sven, I have not a clue what actually that screw does.... but... if S&S recommends to take it off I guess it will be for a reason!

BTW, I do read your posts... its just that after reading them I end up with the same knowledge as I had prior starting to read them

Peace

It says, if you decide to use an aftermarket air cleaner housing, it may cover over #8 bowl vent. So remove this aux vent here, so you don't create a vacuum lock inside the bowl. Sound logical? Is that how you read their instructions is that hidden extra-extra you gotta figure out or off to the side of the road are you. :D

I wanna know is; how can paleskin mention I make 'a lot of sense' and you come away still lifting your trousers up?

Year alright, Franco. :2thumbs:

Now, that makes sense!!! I've learned something now!!! Thanks :2thumbs:

Has the popping just started recently and is just getting worse? Or did you do some modifications to the bike, such as exhaust, and now it's popping on you?

If No mods, and it just started, you might have an intake leak.
Start with checking the rubber plugs on the top of the carb body. They are plugging vacuum nipples on top. If they look at all bad, replace with new ( can be purchased at any auto parts store )

You will also want to check for an intake leak of the manifold seals. With motor warm and able to idle on it's own, spray the intake manifold in the area of the seals from RIGHT side of bike (air cleaner side) Using brake/parts cleaner(one that will not harm paint) spray manifold seal area between intake manifold and head. If any change in idle, you most likely have an intake leak.

You might also want to check the Accelerator pump nozzle inside the carb bore. Take air cleaner off. Using a flashlight, look inside bore of carburetor. Now, twist throttle while still looking inside. If the nozzle does not have a nice fanning spray of fuel, you will need to clean the nozzle. I can tell you how to do that later if your not sure on how to clean it.

Another thing to check, if your using the spike air filter and it just started acting up on you, you might have to remove the small plug on the bottom of the carb using a 5/32" allen wrench. After removing this plug, take the bike for a test ride and see if anything has changed.

Thanks alot for all of the replys guys. I jetted her with a 76 main and a 31 intermediate .. she still spits back through the air filter on a cold startup but she runs 1000 times better... again just want to say thank you all! You guys are great!

Hi KennyCarr---
I run a V&H 2 into 2, stock S&S, 32 and 76 with a forward mounted spike. I'm in SE KS, about the same elev as you (600-700). no decel popping ever.

AIR IS CONSTANThink!

...but someone pls translate WTF he is saying, I have NEVER read a post of his that makes any sense whatsoever...
:flag: Thank you for your services. I have a language that if we used it against the enemy, they would not understand it, and it would be more like, 'hidden in plain site.' The enemy figures out they've been dissed to shit when they break the code, days gonna get mad day read my prop-pee-gain-day.

There are two thoughts to this jetting stuff:

A. Thought Process #1:

If we used water in this experiment, or a liquid, [not air, not a solid] to fill the chamber, we are going to find ourselves inundated with formula and physics. Same sort of 'laws' apply to electricity, or nature's movement of the air or in the air. So what the first thought process is, you windup with the "More Air" thinkers. Which means, either I have the concept wrong or I live in your reality. LOL

These guys seem to think their physics says 'more' anytime they pull an air cleaner off, set a velocity stack on it, or yank the mufflers and here is 'more air flow' out the back. So, any move you make like port the head, install a hot cam, high compression pistons and all that, you need an interpreter like me to straighten your ass out, i.e., a different perspective of the laws you are stuck with.

Do you sort of see that you are a witness to having 'more air' in the chamber doing all this hot rod tuning? That is you then. The confused. You can't follow because you are off track. You more have to 'plug-in' the second theory each time you think; N/A (normally aspirated) as opposed to a turbo or roots kind of dragster; or the kind of blower up top the engine. That is more air in the chamber, right?

B. Thought Process #2:

Very few think this way is how you trick yourself into a conversation wit me. Now, I more think in a basic step so you crawl rather than run at the question. Because, this is all about Q&A for me. No bike run? You come to me. Or shoot me I can't get it running with the 3amigos and how they are bandits in a way. One is stolen, she no run, right?

Fuel - I don't care how you explain it, you better follow fuel like starting up a BBQ. Yes or no, do you need fuel or a hunk of wood, coal, lighter fluid? Yes.

Spark - Don't we now need some sort of way to light the water heater's gas pilot? Someway to light the wood, coal, lighter fluid? Yes.

Compression - Are we not stuck in this vacuum of 14.7 psi? Isn't that air all uncompressed in the cylinder chamber, the piston is at bottom dead center? Yes. Isn't the atmospheric pressure compressed enough for the hotdogs now?

Eliminate one of those amigos leaving the building stealing one (no toasted buns) is an amigo. So, will we have combustion? NO! Aren't those 3 LAWS a pisser!??! Okay, you with me so far? That is the law to boiling water; law of the BBQ routine; law of the bike on the side of the road missing one amigo. I don't make up the laws I just follow them.

I am now in the process of watching 3 variables move into a drinking glass. I'm going to use the glass as the engine's cylinder chamber. I am going to use water instead of air to show you how the N/A works in the absolute move it makes.

And because it is so complex is the physics, we are just going to use one example so you see nature moves in a "constant" to live in. Right now, that glass is empty. I'm going to use liquid to fill that void. Forget about air or the physics. Forget about; heat/humidity/barometer pressure, or it is going to confuse you. Make it more simple to look at.

You must first see how the 'constant' happens. You now must think, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction," or you are forever lost [is the constant]. This is me speaking the hubbish rubbish, i.e., deFranco's bla-bla key lye dee smoke (screen) you go listening to that trouser. LOL JK!

We now view how the "SAME AIR" thinkers think. No matter if I port my head; install a cam; slap on some big ass millimeter bore size carb; yank off the stock pipes and run nothing; all that occurred was filling the same glass with the same amount of water [faster] than before the mods. Tell me how the fuck can you shoot in MORE if the absolute is looking at you straight in the face.

Can you put more liquid in the chamber if the piston is all the way down, I fill the glass to the brim? Is there more air now? NO! Did you speed up the event to fill that void? Yesssssssssss.

Is there a CONSTANT? YES, SAID THE BLIND MAN EYE CAN SEA A CONSTANT! Say I pour some gin in the bottom first and then soda all the way to the top of the glass; are we now in some sort of GIN TO TONIC RATIO? :whoop:

  <<< Oh look! BEER INSTEAD IS INN THE GLASS!

Have we established a "Constant?" Yes or No? (for you to figure out)
Have we caused a speedifferential? Yes.
Have we made the air flow fast or easier to move? Yes.
Have we caused the heavier fuel to have less vacuum pressure over that jet hole? Yes.
Have we made the air so swift is the friction loss at the air cleaner dragging down the air is now gone? Yes, said the velocity stack.
Have we two variables to play with? Yes.
Have we established we have plenty of flow but it now overrides any fuel delivery? Yes.
Have we a way to slow the air so no jetting is needed [is that other bowl drop move]? Yes.
Have we some tin foil to wrap around the inlet and now the gin to soda ratio is hand me the bottle of foil, will I foil this air move an make me bike more smooth; no pop out the back or front..... (I fuk withe constant).
