Bike fired right up after the jet change. It had 76 main and 28 pilot. I changed pilot to the 31 like recommended. Seems to run fine. Before it was popping much more than normal on deceleration, and that's back to normal now. I was only able to really get on it in low gear a couple of times, but it seemed OK. I ran it to about 100 mph in 5th and that seemed to go well also.
The original, bad belt was loose enough to take off and back onto the front pulley with the wheel right where it is. Bet that's a red flag........ Pictures below show the wear on both sides of it after just a few test rides on a brand new belt. I thought it was only wearing on one side, but apparently being that loose just beats it up on both sides.
The belt is pretty tight now, and that is also working as expected. I got on it in 1st a couple of times and 2nd two or three times and it was good. I haven't put the guard back in place yet though. I'll keep an eye on it during the trip next week and hopefully will be able to put it back on when I get back.
The clutch work, while unrelated to the work at hand yet required, was also interesting. Figured out how that works and how to adjust the clutch. I got really lucky and it seems about 95% perfect on the first try. I adjusted it without running it before buttoning everything back up, but it turned out pretty good. It creeps the tiniest bit, but neutral was reasonably easy to find and I don't think it's slipping any at WOT in 1st or 2nd gear.
How does that clutch rod adjuster cover stay on being just finger tight ?
I'm so happy this is done and BBBBQ is back on track.
Thanks again for the support and good advice.
