What is the best way to remove the caps off of the top of the forks? I'm putting a slammer lowering kit on my brides sporty.

When I took the caps off the top of the forks on the doggie I measured the cap size and picked up a socket. Taped up the cap to avoid scratches then put the socket on to loosen it....

I taped mine up also but was able to start it with an adjustable wrench. After a half a turn it comes off with the fingers. They aren't on that tight.

I'll give it a shot when I get back to the house. I'm at kungfu class with the childs.

They make a tool that has some kind of plastic or nylon insert to prevent scratches, sorry don't have a pic. You should be ok if you use the tape.

I got it done. They were easy to get off. Did the tape with the crescent wrench to get them off. I swapped out the springs and spacers without a hitch. It was a MFer to get those caps back on. I shot the one spacer across the garage with a trail of crimson red oil behind it. It was a friggn mess. I ended up schmoozing a socket to get them on. Once I had the socket it was a breeze. Not I have another issue. I'll post it up on the other makes section.

Yes, there are sockets available with a plastic protective insert. I think Sears has them but maybe not as singles.
