Can anybody help with tachometer issue

Hi forum members,

When I got my bike 2007 Mastiff half year ago, tacho did not work. I ordered new tacho ring from bdkingspin, installed it and now it works, but in very strange way. If engine is working at ca 1000rpm, all lights are flashing, at normal riding speed ca 60mph only two green lights are on, if I am revving really hard, third green light comes on. Looks like tacho is working, but shows 2 or 3 times less than actual rpm??
Previous owner has changed the ignition module, could this be the reason why it works this way? Any ideas?

This is an interesting question. Going to have to do a little research on this. I don't believe I've ever heard of this before.

Low idle will make one flash but i havent seen one that does what your are saying once you increase rpm...they usually clear up and act normal once rpm increases....alot of times low voltage at startup , caused from low battery charge, will make one not come on at all but once the battery charges up and you shut the bike off and refire it they will work right....you got me curious on this one and it might be from the different ignition module.....post a pic of what ignition module you have on it now to see if someone might be able to help you

If he put the Thunderheart ignition in it, you need to hook up a computer and change the tach calibration. If it's "1" change to "0". If it's "0" change to "1".

If it's the Thunderheart, you need the software disc and cable. See if the PO still has it.
