I've had cam sensor issues in the past.
Once I used an EVO style cam sensor (used with a bronze cup) and worked just fine - the harley dealer should know about it.
Also bought a couple of OEM Big Dog sensors off ebay, the number stamped on them seemed to have little importance.

My issues were overheating related, so my sensors keept popping one after another. All went away with proper carb jetting and tuning. Good luck!

Thanks . I went to the HD dealer last night and they couldn't guaranty the one for a 98 fatboy would work , so I declined and when I got home I checked ebay for bigdogpartskings posting and checked it out and it was identical to mine and like you said I had since learned the numbers on the sensor don't matter so just waiting to get it , it should be here Friday or Saturday.

I also contacted BDM performance parts the get 142.00 for theres but they didn't have any at the moment and also Thunder heart has them for 120.00 . But Im very happy with the one I bought for 9.95 plus 6 dollars for shipping. cant beat that price! :whoop:

Glad you found a good deal. But keep in mind, if you're running lean and it's kind of hot outside, that sensor won't last too long. Been there, done that.
In a way it's better that the sensor goes bad before something else melts in there.

Check your plugs and pay attention while riding for any signs of running lean.
Plugs are really white, carb "sneezes" at constant speed, lots of decel pop, engine running really hot are just a few hints for a lean condition.
