Hey guys I have an 06 pit that has the s&s rocker boxes. I did not switch out the rocker boxes it was built in may of 2006 and it came from the factory with the s&s boxes. I have been doing alot of research trying to figure out which cam I have. I have searched the forum and the best I can come up with is they went to a smaller cam around 2008. I am wanting to swap my cam out for the s&s 585 but am unsure of the cam I currently have. The only reason I want to go with the 585 is because I dont want to deck the heads and change the springs. Thanks for any help guys.

05 and some 06 had a comp cams .569 cam. Then they went to S&S .546 cam. As mentioned springs are the question. Its easy to pull the front rocker box cover and look see what ya got. There have been different springs all capable of the .585 cam or a bit more. Big selection available of cams in this range. S&S, Woods, Redshift.

You could give the guys at S&S a call, but I can tell you they are going to tell you the 585 will wake it up and you won't have to worry about springs.

Ok thanks guys. The color of the stripe on the spring is what tells you what the spring is capable of correct?
The only ones with a stripe that I know of are the red stripe S&S 640. But even if you were to have the red stripe make sure there is a total of 3 different springs in the one assembly. The 640 is a triple spring.

no matter which cam I have the s&s 585 would be a good choice to go with from what I read. I have heard of some guys running the Harley B style lifter with very good results and it almost eliminates the top end noise. Anybody on here run the harley B lifter?

I think I'm going to be very dis appointed in my dyno numbers. I had a big bear venom before the dog with a rev tech 110 bone stock was 107hp 114tq to the wheel.

Don't count on low numbers. With a .585 cam, 2-1 pipes, throw in a Dual Runner intake you may just surprise yourself.

If I have the springs I may do the .600. What intake do you recommend? I have the d&d 2into1. I also have the big radius two into pipes. Not sure which one will make more power.

Took off the front valve cover today and Im still not sure which springs I have. I dont see a red stripe all I can tell is its a dual spring.

That sounds like the dual springs that were on the models with the .569 Comp Cam. Should be okay with a 585 cam. Some have run the 600 with it, but i believe most with the 600 cam swap out the springs to the triple .640 springs

Also which rocker boxes do you have TP or S&S?

The only way to go:2thumbs: Unless you got the balls and cash to go with the 640 and the zero interference.

S&s rocker boxes with s&s roller rockers.

S&s rocker boxes with s&s roller rockers.
Did they come on the bike new or did you add them?

Their was a switch over in 06 from the TP to the S&S. Also is your top spring retainer solid or does it have holes drilled arounf the perimeter?
