I am doing a new cam while the weather is cold and while I have time off from work. The manual tells you to use a puller to remove the cover but I dont have the style in the book.
Mine has a small cover that is easily removed by 2 screws. Under that is a 1/4-20 hole that might be mistaken for a jack screw hole. It isn't! (no, I didn't tear out the threads) I used a long piece of all-thread and made a slide hammer. Cover comes off with a few light taps and drains some oil so use something to catch that.
I decided to add this thread to keep one of our brothers from making a mistake. Cheers!
