California emissions

Been looking at some used bike and heard that in order to bring a used bike into ca it has to has at least 7500mi on it. (F'ing retarded but that's beside the point). Tried doing some searches on it and still need help in understanding what's permitted.

So, if a bike has 7500mi on it, it's ok to register in ca?

Are 05 up big dogs ca emission rated and ok to bring into cal?

Thanks

I just purchased a used 08 in Anaheim, and shipped it up to Oregon. I assume the previous owner didn't have any issues with emissions.

Check out this link:
California DMV HTVR9 How To Register A Out of State Vehicle Nonresident Vehicle

On this DMV site is states:
"California law prohibits residents or businesses from importing and/or registering a new vehicle with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase unless it meets or is exempt from California Emission standards. If you acquire a 49-State vehicle (manufactured for all states except California) from another state or country, you may not be able to register your vehicle in California."

So it appears that you may not be able to register an out-of-state vehicle that does not meet the CA emissions. Perhaps it's just best to call the California DMV and see what they say.

Yup, that was me, and junior took care of me. They even threw in a new front tire and hooked me up with a shipper.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to really have to look into this to find out what I can and can't do before I buy anything out of state then.

And one more thing. Does anyone here resent the fact that after plunking down 30+ thousand dollars on a big dog, that you can't get a decent exhaust system that sounds worth a dam, and a performance air cleaner? That would be our big government friends at the EPA. Exit question: What GDFing business are my pipes to the EPA?
