Busted License Plate Mount

A long time ago my wife hit my license plate with the car.
Straightening out the license plate mount surely weakened it. Well, the other day it snapped right off, dragging the frame down the street. Good thing that's a pretty good gauge wire.

Question is, what's the best way to repair it? Welding a new one in place an option? Doesn't sound like a good idea. Ideas?

I've got the plate zip tied to the rear swing arm for now. I haven't been stopped yet, but it's just a matter of time. :D

The tab on the swing arm. Frame and everything is ok. A little scratched but nothing a good buffing won't fix.

Have it re-welded... rattle can it till you can get it repowder coated (if you so desire)

No risk of weakening the frame? Any special type of weld required? Last thing I need is the swing arm to go while I'm doing 90 down the highway! :)

I'm due for another set of meat pretty soon. That would be the ideal time to get both done.

i'd be interested to see a picture of this.

its amazing that the weld would break before the aluminum tag bracket.

Shit I wish mine broke off like that then, I can justify the primo plate mount. I would just sand it smooth and re powdercoat it. There are plenty of other plate mount options out there like swing arm tube mounts or rear axle mounts, outer primary mounts.

Doesn't the bracket attach to the frame via the billet mount? I like to see a pic of what you are describing, something doesn't sound right.
