Yes the stock BDM cap used to let in water .

So I bought a vented aircraft style lockable cap. The tank liner was peeling so I stripped that first and re-lined with the POR15 tank liner system. I filled in the existing filler hole with a wooden plug bonded in fibre-glass then using the wood plug I centred a 50mm hole cutting bit and cut out the hole to the correct diameter size of the new style filler. Then cut off the internal drain pipe and sealed it off with chemical metal bung. Then marked the new bolt holes and drilled the tank. Added a thin gasket under the cap base smeared on all mating surfaces with thin coat of blue Hylomar then bolted down the lot slowly wiping away the squeezed Hylomar.
