Goofin aroun in the shop tonite . Decided to build a sissy bar . Not really sold on it yet . Kinda thinking about powder coating it just to see how it looks .
Total cost $7 and 1 hour labor .
Does anyone have any idea what it would cost to chrome it .

Looks familiar, the ones I made cost $100.00 min.!! What size stock did you use??

I used 11/16'' . Got it at a local machine shop . $1.67 a foot . It fit the holes a little tight so I took it down on the ends .
I didnt use a bender . I just layed out a jig on a piece of plate and heated and bent with a flame . Made the 2 bevel cuts with a cut off wheel on a 4'' grinder and drilled and tapped the ends to 3/8'' . Fastened with a 2'' chrome allen head bolt .
And yes I was going for the same look as the one you built BBChopper . I just wanted it taller . I dont know what size rod you are using that would cost $100 for 3' ??? That sounds a little expensive .

This size are 5/8". I have made some from 3/4 that I turned down to 11/16, I couldn’t find it anywhere. I built a bender out of a bottle jack and parts from an ornamental bending kit, and a jig fixture for welding. I have had 4 of these chromed and it was right around $100.00. I almost bought a chroming set up because it's so expensive!!!

Ya I about used 5/8'' but was afraid it would be to sloppy in the holes .
I didnt use a bender just used a flat jig to fit and stood it up in 2 pieces of pipe on 12.125 centers to weld . I dont think I will chrome it . I think it would look pretty good powdercoated black .
