May want to head to Sears, Harbor Freight, or Radio Shack and pick up a cheap meter. I can't imagine troubleshooting ANY electrical problems without one whether we're talking about the bike or in the house!!! :2thumbs:

I will pick one up but I was studying the schematics and there are three other yellow wires besides the coil which is going to the ignition module , there is low beam , the compression reliefs and a yellow for a tach of which I don't have? That wire is live when the run button is pressed , could it be a wire for a tach, seeing how all the others are accounted for? Looks like Im going to have to wait until I get my ignition mod back from thunderheart and see its ok then, I cant explain that yellow wire!!

That Small wire beside your finger to the 3 o'clock position is your compression release. My Bike is parked outside of work let me go look but I dont think I have that wire.....
Does your bike have LEDs or something aftermaket on it?

yes it has led s but that yellow wire only seems to have power when the run button works but you know all the other wires are accounted for so that could be it.

Marc, after looking at your picture I may have found your answer. There is a plug with a single yellow wire behind your hand. Unplug that and look closely. See if there may have been 2 wires attached? Just a thought.

Im not sure which one you mean but if its the one that is visible in the picture , that is the lead going to the two green wires which are the compression reliefs . I believe Dakotbos might be right and that wire could just be part of the after market blue leds . Im not a tech but I will know better when I get my ignition module back and if it doesn't have any issues after I put it back in then Im going to tape up the end of that wire, and ride the f`n thing !lol

I am losing it, I got the ignition module back and I just put in and I had to cut the connector plug and splice the wires and there are 4 wires and all but the yellow are getting power with the run button on all but the yellow wire and altho that yellow wire is in the same coating as the red black and green there is only three wires going to the cam sensor no yellow and as I said earlier there is a broken yellow wire that is tie wired along side of those four and that has power when the run button is depressed, I have no idea where it is suppose to connect but it has to be the problem??

There's two connectors on the ignition module, a 3 pin and a 4 pin. The 3 pin goes to the cam sensor and the three wires are: red (power), green (signal), and black (ground). The 4 pin connector's wires are: red (power from EHC), green (tach signal to EHC), yellow (goes to the coil to make spark), and black (ground from EHC). The yellow coming out of the ignition module is a ground until it's time to fire the coil and then the ground goes away. If you're measuring power at the mysterious broken end of the yellow wire after the RUN is pushed it's because power is going through the coil and then through that wire.

Hi , Im going to spend sometime looking for the other end of that wire later today but though I would post this pic first this yellow wire is not part of the four that go to the Ig module it comes from under the tank as the arrow points to but I feel like a fool I can not find the other end and that wire only get power when the run button is depressed??

Marc, it looks like you have the EHC still installed. Have you checked it to see if the Yellow is still attached? (When you switch to WP you have to clip the yellow off the EHC.) They're are about 5-6 wires in a row attached to one end of the EHC. Just thinking...........

Here made the pic bigger: I'm a little confused, am I seeing a lot of splices here? Please make sure your battery is disconnected with the open splices. Dont want to fry anything...

Marc, just in front of your index finger there appears to be a group of two wires bundled together. They are crossing the negative battery post. It looks like black/white stripe is bare? Are those wires to an add on??

I believe it does go to the coil , it comes from under the tank. I mean the other end has to be somewhere, lol

Assuming you're right and the yellow wire you're holding definitely goes to the coil...

It needs to be connected to the yellow coming out of the ignition module. Can you pull the yellow wire out of the harness (bike side) that's currently connected to the module? I'm thinking that's where the missing end is at...
