Breather help

So I asked this question in another thread but its a older thread and is not getting any action or help.

My bike is like this at the moment. you can see the bar/tube that connects the 2 heads and then has a metal braded hose coming from the bottom of the peace where it bolts to the rear head.

I have a nice chrome peaice to replace and suport the intake and it bolts to the heads in that location. so what happends to the breather line, and that upside down U shaped tube?... do the heads not need the breather

The bracket has the breather built in, look at the back side of it. Make sure you are using the existing bolts as well, they are drilled.

With the stock bolts?

Well This changes things! ha,, where does the hose hook up, maybe I am just missing it. will examine closer.

No hose needed with the bracket. The breather inside of it leads the air in to the carb.... and we all know where that air exists....

ah ok. Hope the stock bolts are long enough......

So with this I can remove the whole ugle adapter plate to the carb, the up-side down U shape tube, the braided hose, and the breather filter by the tranny I just replaced. haha.

But it will look much cleaner and more supported too.

here in this thread, I had to find out what it was and then just replaced it haha

you still need the crankcase breather line
Fire is right, but everything else is incorporated in that bracket. It will look good...

As you can see the venting is slightly different and you must use vented bolts on the bracket. I might have one spare if memory serves me right....

Ok Checked out the braket and you guys are correct, it has little channels that let them breath back into the intake. Very cool.

So once I install this (If the stock bolts are long enough) FI not where can i get longer bolts?

Where do I need to attache that breather line to instead.

What breather line? There won't be any. I would think you could get those bolts from any HD custom shop.

Firedog in this thread is saying I still need the breather line?

To me it seams this would replace it all together, the line and the little filter would not have anywhere to connect to so i can just remove them.

I will investigate the bolt length when back form florida.

He was referring to the crank case breather. Ya know, that shiny new part you put on your bike.... Florida? Where in Florida? I have a HSV layover on the 12th, leaving super early the next morning but an early beer would be cool if you have time..

Well I leave Saturday with the boat in tow to Gulf Shores, stay there for a week Beach side. Then will launch boat in orange beach for a night (have a single night between rentals) and the poker run, then head to Fort Walton / Destin to our house for 8 more nights for the Billy Bowlegs Party. I have 3 more boats, and 18 people coming to meet up for that leg of the trip.

The 12th i will be back home by then So I should be able to meet up ont he 12th after work. What time you talking?

I am guessing this breather is separate from the crank case then, I have not had time to mess with bike getting boat and truck ready for trip.

the crankcase breather is a line that comes from the lower part of the motor ( the crankcase) the vent you are installing is for the head breathers. I have mine vented to the outside with a chrome filter breather for hipo auto heads. some people just stuff it down to under the frame.

Yea that makes since. The crank case will still use my filter. This tube goes to nothing just the frame so it mounted up should work.

Took it apart and the bolt holes are close, but they are off a little to make it work, probably another 3-5 mm and I could get the second bolt started..

I am sure there is some slack somewhere but not sure where. Only spent 5-10 min looking.

So after some disassembling, and more looking, the stock bolts will NOT work its to far off.

Made a call to D&M, and he laughed and assured me i need the hardware kit.

So 35 bucks later and a few days I got a new hardware kit.

The bolt spacers go into the head, then the sklinny bolts, go through some chrome offset outer washer/ covers this alows the thinner bolts to line up with the heads unlike the stock bolts.

It also includes "spacing shims" ha washers... to get it to line up with the carb nice and perfect. and has new gaskets for both the breather braket, and the Elbow form the intake.

Now now i have a suported, Carb and intake, with the Chrome breather brakes, and got ride of the old one with the down tube. looks better and works good so far. I do need to make tmy carb prettier some how though.
