All I'll say on the subject is be careful on marketing literature. Braile advertises Pulse cranking amperage and calculates what that rating would be in CCA. They may work perfectly fine but why don't they perform an actual measurement that meets and industry standard test? Don't pay more money based on a good marketing scheme. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Braile is not any better or worse, just that you should think if the cost delta is worth the price. A lot of 310CCA batteries that are filled and charged by a dealer or individual get a bad rep because they are not activated correctly and therefore have a short/unreliable life. Get yourself a FACTORY (Battery Factory that is) activated 310CCA battery from Interstate or BDM and keep it maintained.

Unlike CCA and MCA the pulse cranking ampere (PCA) rating does not have an "official" definition; for true engine start purposes, a 30 second discharge is unrealistic. With that in mind, the PCA is a very short duration (typically about 3 seconds) high rate discharge. Because the discharge is for such a short time, it is more like a pulse.

Night... what about the HD AGM batteries? All the AGMs are factory filled and charged.

Only thing that I have heard about the Braille batteries is that they do not get along well with cold weather. I have had feedback saying they are awesome in hot weather and hold up to their ratings, but not in the cold.

Harley AGM should work find as well. AGM batteries can be factory activated or filled by the purchaser. If they are activated correctly you should be fine, I think Interstate Battery offers a longer warranty on the factory activated versions. ISB part for BDMs is FAYTX20HL. FA at the beginning shows it is factory activated.

yeah ..I will try the Braille out....I only paid $63 for my Interstate Battery...and after it stumbled a couple of times when it was cold...I figure I will give this battery a try....didn't know about the factory activated battery...

Have you considered instulling manual compression releases yourself. I have a buddy with a 2000 husky that had it done. Has never had a issue since that day.

so far this Braille battery has held up in the cold:2thumbs: a couple of weeks ago...it got down to like 25 degrees at night....take bike off of tender..and spins the motor like theres no tomorrow! ...when it got down to 38 degrees or so...with the Interstate battery....I left the bike plugged in the tender ....started...and thats when it stumbled on cranking...and my hazards came on.....

Yuasa awesome!

I've been using the Yuasa going on my 7th YEAR on a 2003 Chopper in Michigan and no problems untill now. Always started my beast with authority. Never used a Tender and rode very little... a couple of times a month. I did take out the battery in the winter and once a month placed it on a charger. I'm afraid to try something different and more expensive only to replace in less years than I got with the Yuasa. Sorry I'm sold on the Yuasa. Almost 7 YEARS WOW!!
I also read that Deka and Braille are the same battery only the Braille cost twice as much.. Check out this guys thread at VWvortex Forums: lightweight battery install..... and some information

Myself I went through 3 Interstate 310cca batteries going bad in one year with them on tenders. They don't take the vibration well is what I am seeing.

I now am running the 350cca Big Boar and I NEVER put it on a tender and even after it sits for 5-6 weeks off the tender, It cranks over like the day I put it in the bike!!!

Everyone I have ever talked to that has, or have had a Big Boar battery, swear by them.

Was just cruising the forum and saw mention of Scorpion batteries. Funny, I have had pretty good luck with the one in my bike for the last couple years...guess you got a dud? Did they ever take care of it for you on warranty?
For what it is worth, the Braille battery is a re-branded Deka, which I have heard good things about as well.
