The search is finally over bought a 2006 K9 yesterday...

Looks to be in pretty good shape other than a mark in the front fender (see pics)...First impressions after the test ride is 1) this sum bitch is obnoxious [[LOUD]]
2) this thing handles like chit !

But, I had a blast on the test ride what a difference from riding sportbikes for the last 29 or so years..

Other than the front fender I did notice after it warmed up it didn't want to idle I had to blip the throttle at red lights....Its been many years since I adjusted a carb hope I remember how..

Will try to bring it home next Tuesday, on my way to Florida now in the big rig..

*cell pics I know they suck*

Gonna order the 5 inch extensions for the controls and maybe see if someone can shave the seat so I can sit further back in the saddle..

That should stretch me out a little..

One of the old ones.
Great looking K9..enjoy!! And I also have the V&H exhaust--it's true that they are not as loud as daisy cutters or Trottas, but nonetheless set off the occasional car alarm :)

Sales dude said baffles were in, I may double check that ! LOL
Ok, very easy. put the bike on a lift. With a dremal tool cut the bolt inside the pipe holding the baffle in place. Get a inside to outside claw on the end of a slide hammer. put the claws inside the baffle and open claws so they spread out and grab the baffle. usually takes one or two hits and baffles fall out. BTW they are about 18'' long. Here is a video how to do it.Delboy's Garage, XL883 Iron, Time to rip the baffles out. - YouTube

Congrats good looking bike. Big City Thunder makes aftermarket baffles and they have a "quiet" one, but from what I've gathered just reading is their quiet baffle is about the same volume as what the V&H comes with. Of course if they are missing this might be an option.

Why would you want to quiet it down...well ok, you do loose 3-4hp running no baffles but the WOW factor of shaking a car next to you is more than making up for it! :2thumbs:
