boot chain?

i see some folks riding around with those boot chains on, you know like a spur strap with a metal chain around the bottom of the boot? is there a point to this or a significance or just a cosmetic thing they like?

ive seen the boot straps and wouldnt mind em but i dont get this unless its just cosmetic

I use leather Gators. There thick enough to deflect a rock hit to the shen. Also your legs get to breath and not burn up like chaps.

I wear boot straps, other wise my pant legs are up around my knees.
