Bolt

Energy One
Really? Its a $3 bolt
If you live next door to an Ace Hardware its great.
If you don't then its a hell of a deal.
Not to mention you don't have to do a bunch of searching to find out which one you need, you don't have to drive to the store and spend time looking and hey...if you don't want to pay the low order fee then simply buy one more item that your bound to need.

Of course while your at it buy everything else you need for your Big Dog at Ace Hardware...
Oh that's right they don't make or carry anything else for a Big Dog Motorcycle.

i'm not taking sides here, just making a statement. stores like ace hardware handle a wide variety of products that they are able to buy in bulk and get better pricing than can the little guy, aka wildsteedworx. better pricing means lower cost most of the time to the consumer, aka us. small indy shops have to, just by the nature of doing business, charge a little more and pass on the shipping and related costs just to be able to keep the lights on. big stores, with big volume, are able to use pressure to get free or no shipping that they can pass on so it looks like the customer is getting an even better deal. indy shops don't have that advantage, so they must pass it on. but in the end, we, the consumer, are still looking for the best deal, ie lowest price, but lots of times at the cost of the indy going out of business and the inability to find that little part we need or want to get us back on the road. when it comes time to buy from an indy, think of it as an insurance policy.

On that note, as others have stated, you CAN get the bolt at a variety of locations....just make sure that if the MANUAL calls for a GRADE 8 bolt for the location you are looking to replace (aka engine mount bolt) you don't go to Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot etc and buy that 'chrome bolt' off the shelf if it calls for a grade 8, because most of their Chrome/Stainless bolts are hardly grade 5 and will break again......

In the case of the top motor mount, I think it is more of a lost bolt rather than a broken one.
With a 1/2-20 bolt, the tensile and shear forces between grade 5 and grade 8 are that high, that I don't think in this situation for a top motor mount, would be something to worry about. My 07' manual does not specify the need for a grade 8.

1/2-20 bolt
tensile strength grade 5- 18159# grade 8- 22674#
shear strength grade 5- 14730# grade 8- 17870#
