I'd like to ride one (with the apes) before I would buy. they look good and the price seems right. Will be interesting to see if the reserve is met (probably close to the "buy it now" price").

Hey maybe now would be a good time for a pic of my shovelhead. I have had this bike for a long time and have never known exactly what to call it. Bobber, Chopper, or just custom build. It's a 1980 (FLT if you can believe that) on a Paucho frame. Rides and handles great and I love it (but its an AMC and a shovelhead, so high maintenance).

And what would be your suggestions to make it into a bobber (if it isn't now)?

Thanks, input appreciated, Shovelcowboy

yuck... i only like bobbers with apes :)
open your mind...besides, does the first one not have apes???

my next bike will be a self build like this. A rolling chassis like this with a few extras seems a good place to start....for me anyway

hey shovel - just my opinion but its not what will make it into a bobber...its what will make it into what you want and how you will like it. Nothing else counts. :2thumbs: Seems like you got a great base.

Is that your wifes bike Shovel?
I knew I'd get that about the color! And yes it would make a great gal's bike, but no she doesn't ride her own (wish she did).

That color (NO it's not robin egg blue or turquois). Actual it is GM Larkspur Blue (remember the '55, '56, '57 Chevys?). And looks good with black.
But would probably not be tolerated in a 'tough' biker club.

I wish I had more money.
Just kiddn' shovel. I'm still trying to get to where I can joke with some of the guys without them thinking I an not jokin. The bike is sharp non the less. If you want to get rid of it I know a gal that would like it.

I'm with ya on the joking bit. I never mean to offend anyone (that is unless the asshole deserves it:up: ).

Thanks for the compliment on the shovelhead. And NO, the gal you know can't have it. It's gonna belong to Miss September in our calendar (my daughter Kristi, who should look good riding it! Don't you think?) (Although I think she wants my Red chopper). I have three grown kids and they are each going to inherit one of my bikes when I get too old to ride. WITH the stipulation that they can't sell or wreck them. Kinda like family heirlooms. They will have to take care of them and pass them on to their kids!):2thumbs:

Now Biker Babe! Would you REALLY trust ME to adopt you!!::rolleyes: With me knowing what you look like!!!:2thumbs:

All kidding aside, a cool idea. I will have 4 bikes (too many bikes) if I ever get my ass in gear and finish my K-9 project.

And Babe you know that "Friends may come and friends my go and friends may Peter out you know butYou'll be mine through thick or thin, Peter out or Peter in"! (No offense now).

Your friend, Shovelcowboy:cheers:

Alright, you, Crazy Cowboy! You're too funny!

Is there really such a thing as 'too many bikes'?!

I look forward to seeing your finished work.
