The Postman and I took off around 7 a.m. this past Sunday headed for the Southern end of the Blueridge Parkway for a full day of riding. We first went up the mountain to Gatlinburg and stopped leaving town and snapped the first shot of the day.
We continued on up the mountain headed to Cherokeee and we stopped at Newfound Gap for a shot back toward Gatlingburg. A portion of the montain had fallen off and took the road with it as you can see in the lower left portion of the photo.
Here is from the same spot looking toward Cherokee
We got gas in Cherokee N.C. and headed up the Blueridge Parkway and made our first stop at Bunches Bald
We continued up the mountain and stopped at a overlook high on the mountain to look back where we came from.
A quick stop at the highest point on the parkway, this spot caused quiet a delay with other riders wanting to take photos of our bikes and pose for photos.
Continuing on we stopped at another overlook for a pic.
Next stop was "Looking Glass" caused by the granite core of a volcano cooling and leaving only the core after erosion has taken its toll over the years. So named because in the winter it will glaze with ice and form what looks like a mirror.
Before reaching Asheville N.C. I took this shot down the valley back toward Cherokee.
We hopped off and refueled in Asheville and realized it was 4 p.m. and we had traveled 210 miles from home. So we started back with no stops for pics.
Just before we got back to Cherokee we paused to let some blood get back in our butts and I snapped this pic as the sun was beginning to set.
We then hit it hard back to Gatlinburg and then to Maryville where we stopped at the Texas Roadhouse for a cold beer and catfish while we talked about what has to be one the best rides of our lives. If you have never been there, you have got to put it on your list. Just over 420 miles and I rolled in the garage at 10 p.m. on the dot. Hopefully these pics will let you share some of our fun!
