As I mentioned at the first of the month, Benny(Postman) and I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway with the intention of spending 4 days to get it done. Leaving Sunday we rode 149 miles from home to get to the Parkway and were immediately greeted by high winds, light rain, and eventually dangerously dense fog.
We made it North to Spruce Pine by dark and spent the night getting dried out.
Early Monday morning we took off headed North with Fox Creek Leather being a stop off point for a jacket for Benny, a vest for me, and gloves for both of us. We told them all about the Bigdogbiker forum and encouraged them to join our vendors on the forum. They were very helpful and fitted Benny for a custom made coat. Here is a photo of their store front, they are only a short hop off the parkway.

We were trying to make up for lost time and didn't stop and take pics while going North. On the return trip Benny's K9 decided not to start after we stopped in Boone, N.C. He insisted that I continue on the Parkway without him, so I hit the parkway alone while he waited for his son to bring the truck and a new enclosed trailed loaned to us by brhanson(Brian). Many thanks to Brian for saying the day!
Here is a pic of a old homeplace once owned by a wealthy family on the parkway, now repurposed for crafts.
View from the front porch, hard to imagine owning thousands of acres like the original owner of the house did.
The Christmas tree farms that dotted the landscape of North Carolina were amazing.
Here is the tunnel that Benny took shelter from the rain in as I rode on in the dense fog. It was surprising how many miles the fog persisted!
Panoramic views are commonplace, and I have too many pics like these to post.
Hopefully I have not bored anyone with the quick snapshot of 469miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Benny and I will have to do this again soon to make up for the bad weather and bad luck!
