Blue Magic Quick Shine and other stuff I found

I'm a huge fan of spray cleaners for cleaning all painted surfaces, I love how fast they clean and how you don't have to spray the bike with water. For years this has been my only way of cleaning my motorcycles (unless super dirty), but I never had a bike with so much chrome and polished aluminum before, so I have been looking for a fast way to clean the chrome and aluminum. All the spray cleaners I tried would streak and smear pretty badly, they just aren't made to clean polished aluminum and chrome.

I don't think the previous owner ever cleaned the wheels on my Bulldog, so I was looking for the right tools to make this not too bad of a chore. I went to AutoZone to grab some Adam's polish, but they didn't carry it, so I decided to try Blue Magic metal polish cream. While browsing I noticed a can of Blue Magic Quick Shine metal polish! I was excited to give it a try and finally have a spray cleaner for chrome and aluminum. I grabbed it as well as some nifty looking polishing rags.

The can of Protect All is what I use on paint, picked it up at Cycle Gear. I like it because it has real carnuba wax in it, not just silicone. Works great but will streak and smear on chrome.

This is what I started with...

I had to use some 3M 3000 grit sandpaper I also found at AutoZone or Advanced Auto, great stuff, it's like a sponge with some super fine grit, almost like a really aggressive magic eraser. Then I used the Blue Magic cream and the rags.

Much better!

I used the spray cleaner to clean up everything else. It works great, cleaning with no streaking. It won't polish, but it will do a great job of cleaning. My forward controls were pretty grimy, just spray it on, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it clean. Just wanted to pass it on....

I will take a pic of the sandpaper later, it's good stuff. Really cleans up oxidation and some light scratches without leaving a lot of work to get it shiny again. In fact just one or two applications of the cream polish was enough to get it shiny again.

Looks great, thanks for the tip on the 3M product, but now you have to clean that rotor. LOL

I will take more pics when I do the rear wheel, it's in even worse shape....

I wish I could, the rotor is chrome and it's peeling badly :(

Here is a front and back of the sandpaper, perfect stuff for cleaning up the really bad spots before polishing. As you can see it's really thick like a sponge...

Thanks....just what I need...MORE Polish
No problem :D but I'm hoping the spray polish works out as a time saving cleaner. That way getting caught in the rain doesn't cost you hours of cleanup

Of the multitude of great cleaner/polish etc I have I still believe that the Truck Box polish from Lowes is still on top and the Bandaid Box Wizard are still the best for AL.
