Blistered Cover

The plastic cover around the battery and electric crap has blistered from the exhaust pipe heat. It looks like the V&H 2-2 pipes sheild doesn't go far enough around to sheild the heat.

Is this a common problem? Sure would be nice if the covers were a metal stamping.

EZ, my 08 K9 has the same problem.

The side covers are being replaced under warranty as the tabs have broken off of the covers.

I am not sure if the blistering was there before the tabs broke or not.

I know a couple of guys who had to wrap the pipes then put the covers back on.
That may be the thing to do at least the small area where it comes close to the plastic cover.....my 07 K9 has the same thing, a bubble where it got hot.

Same thing here, after riding yesterday (believe it or not, was mid 70's and had to ride) I noticed mine had the same thing. What pipe wrap do folks suggest? What has anyone done about the bubble, live with it until the paint flakes off or repaint it? I still have the factory exhaust, so it doesn't seem to matter if it's after market exhaust or not, just too close to the side covers either way. Damn Chrome or polished aluminum would be cool, I saw on another thread dude across the pond was getting some made from aluminum.

The Bigdog Brothers did the pipe wrap.

Remove the heat shield. Start wrapping an inch or two below the exhaust port and down about 8 inches long.

Bro2 had a cover blister on his 07 Bulldog prostreet which has less pipe clearance than others. Since the wrap, there has been no more concern.

We did both our Bulldogs with the wrap. Mine never blistered but wrapped it anyways.

Bro2 had the cover replaced with matched painted graphics done under warranty.

Try Custom Dynamics for the high temp 2" exhaust pipe wrap. It can be had many places.
